Well I managed to get through it all and sort out the minor problems with the story.
Thank the heavens, it was really getting to me having to go back to cover my butt, as it were.

Still haven't heard from the agent I sent my M/S to.
I really don't know if this is a good sign or not.
Probably isn't but, well, who knows eh?
I'm thinking about what to write to him by way of a memory jog.
How about, "Hey, wake up butt brain.
What's with my work I sent ya?"

...Nah, probably not.

I'll have a think about it.
Lateshift today, not good.

Ah well, one day I'll be a millionaire and not have to do shifts ever again...

(Hey, come on, a man can dream can't he?)
Reg :-)

So I guess the foot is back in action again. Try not to kick any butts though.
It's always difficult trying to put a letter together when you haven't got a clue on the approach.

I was just looking through my W. & A. Year book and it clearly states that because publishers are inundated with MS's (My previous L.A. receives 400 a month) many of them will now not even consider an MS from an author unless it comes through a L.A.

So what's wrong with a good old fashioned letter "I sent you a MS xxxx amount of weeks ago. Please can you advise me if it is of interest to you or should i approach another publisher?" .......... you do need to put a header of who you are/what the MS is called etc. All things considered what have you got to lose. They can only say "bog off" or "back off" we're getting to it. Then you will know where you are.

So moving on from that you could do what I did and approach a LA who are always in the know - who's looking for what sort of story line etc. The W. & A. Year book that you have is a later version than mine so look through and see if you fancy any of them. The norm - if you get a contract -means that you will have to shell out a bit but they are doing all the work for you.
I always disapproved of them but in this day and age they seem to be a necessity whether we like it or not.

After thought: Don't be put off by the name, but take a look at: www.barkingted.co.uk. they also do partnership publishing as opposed to self publishing. Anyway see what you think of their site.
Good Luck

I'm covering for my liaison officer this week so a full weeks work! - and - it's only Wednesday still!!

Ok so now you've gone the route of LA flog as many as you can to death with MA - more scope - will check on jj when I get back tonight.
AND it's still only Wednesday :-(
Right then, off t'mill then.
ps Writers Literary and I seem to be working together well. Maybe because it's a kiddywinks book - I don't know. Fancy chancing your arm there maybe? They are very brutal and honest but may be worth considering eh?

Ok so I checked out JJ .co.uk and it's a very interesting site. Unless he writes his own credits he seems quite popular. I notice there is a "contact on site with any questions bit" maybe you could try doing it that way.
OR: I don't know if you have considered getting it edited? this way they have to actually read the story line by line. Reading his page of quotes it sounds as if he may do it himself! Open door there maybe. I know it can be very expensive believe me when I say I do but if you can get it professionally edited that also goes on your "writing cv".
It looks like you're on the right track though hun. Good luck with it all.
I really must also look at SA web site I haven't been on there for ages.
Our reparte/ banter must be sorely missed.
